West Midlands Voluntary Floor and Vault
On Sunday 2nd December, our recreational competition squads along with some of our recreational gymnasts took part in the Voluntary Floor and Vault Championships. In round 1, our two under 11 Advanced teams competed, showing good levels of difficulty and execution, to take 1st and 2nd place. Individually, Emily placed 2nd and Maddie placed 3rd, with Amelie only 0.1 behind. Round 2 saw our Advanced Under 9 teams compete, with the team of 9 year olds placing 3rd and Poppy bringing home the individual silver medal. Our Under 9 Beginners competed in their first external competition with lots of confidence and smiles in round 3. Due to some injuries, the Under 13 advanced team was in a tough position of having to count all 4 gymnasts scores towards the team total. Despite this, they showed some very good gymnastics and competed some new skills for the first time. We had two teams competing in the final round. The Under 15 Advanced team placed 2nd with Esme also placing 2nd individually. The Over 16 team also placed 2nd as a team to bring our medal count for the day up to 9. Malcolm Gee Shield
For the second year in a row, All Starz Gymnastics invited our Recreational Competition Squad to take part in the Malcolm Gee Shield. Out of the 8 teams we entered, 6 of them came home with medals. The day started off with our beginner gymnasts taking part in their first external 4 piece competition. Our team of 8 year old gymnasts won the bronze medal, with our other team just 0.6 behind in 4th place. The 10-11 year old team had the difficult task of all their scores counting towards the team total but put in a strong performance to finish 4th. Our 15+ Intermediate team also had all scores counting towards the team total and earned the silver medal, just 0.55 behind gold. This team were also leading the standings to earn the Malcolm Gee Vault Shield up until the final round. The 12-14 Intermediate team also earned a silver medal highlighted by some very good scores on bars. In the final round of the day, we had two teams in the 10-11 intermediate category and a team in the 15+ advanced. The 10-11 teams performed some very confident gymnastics to earn the gold and silver medals, and the 15+ team also won the gold medal in their category. Cartwheel to the Commonwealth Games
On Saturday 7th April, we held a sponsored cartwheel event where we aimed to complete 10,333 cartwheels in an afternoon- 10,333 is the number of miles between our gym and Gold Coast where the Commonwealth Games were held. Our gymnasts exceeded all expectations and not only met the target within the first two hours, but managed to complete the return trip and completed a grand total of 21,536 cartwheels in four hours. Special mentions to go Ella, Emily, Dani and Fleur who all did over 800 cartwheels in an hour.
Congratulations to Jessika who raised the most sponsorship- a fantastic £129.20! In total we raised over £900 which we have spent on new floor bars and new wedge mats for the gym.
