Update 10th September
It has been great to see gymnasts walking through our doors again, complete with big smiles on their faces. Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as we adjust to the new ways of working.
For classes in the main gym, we are operating a drop off system, where parents can drive through our car park (the opposite way to the floor markings) and drop their children off at the gate where a coach will be waiting. We will be using the front door for pick up from the main gym, so please park in the back car park then walk around to collect your child. Please do not park on the road, as we have had lorries struggling to get down the street, and residents and other businesses have been blocked in.

2019 Competition Reports
West Midlands Regional Levels
This competition took place on 15th September. Mimi competed in the first round in the Level 2 14+ competition, putting together a solid all around performance depsite a fall on beam. She ended up winning the rosette for the highest bars score, and won the silver medal all around. In the second round, Katie, Erin and Tayla competed at Level 4 for the first time showing lots of new skills and confident floor routines. Tewy, Chloe and Rhiannah competed at Level 2 in the 12/13 age group. Tewy and Chloe competed their tucked yurchenko vaults for the first time in competition on their way to placing 2nd and 3rd overall, with Tewy winning the rosette for the highest score on floor. Rhiannah also had a strong competition at Level 2, competing her full twist on floor and yurchenko entry vault for the first time. Well done girls and coach Jess, onwards to the County Competition now! Full results can be found here.
British Adult Gymnastics Championships
Well done to our coaches who competed at the Adult British Gymnastics Championships at Lilleshall in August. Hollie placed 12th overall (4th on floor), Lucy came 14th (1st on vault), Meg came 18th and Phoebe finished 25th in the Over 18 Novice competition.
Our ever popular summer school is returning this summer, and we are adding on an extra week than usual. This means 4 weeks of extra gymnastics sessions! It is running 10-11.30 am Monday to Friday each week from 22nd July to the 16th August, at a weekly cost of £30. You can book a place by downloading the application form here and returning it along with payment to the gym.
Our annual Presentation Evening for our recreational classes is taking place at Kidderminster Harriers Social Club on Saturday 20th July, from 6.30pm. Tickets are available to buy now and are available on a first come, first served basis. This event is usually a sell out so make sure you bring your ticket money to the gym ASAP so you don't miss out.
Sponsored Bike Ride
Wayne Russell, Katie's dad, is doing a sponsored bike ride from Dudley to Aberdovey to raise money for the club to improve our facility. You can sponsor him by bringing money to the gym, or by donating online on his JustGiving pafe here.
National Grades 2019
Erin, Katie, Rhiannah (Grade 4) and Ella (Grade 2) all passed their National Grades this year! Erin scored a fantastic 13 out of 14 on bars. Chloe competed in her first Compulsory Grade, Grade 3. She took it all in her stride but a few nervous errors and some tight judging meant that she fell just short of the pass mark. Amelia took part in the Compulsory 2 practice competition which gave her the opportunity to compete some new skills for the first time. Well Done girls and coach Jessica Matthews!
Over the weekend of 27th and 28th April, our gym extension started. We have acquired the unit next door to our facility and have had the adjoining wall knocked down. The new area will house some of our recreational classes and allow us to run more sessions concurrently in the gym. The current target date to have our new area usable by is July 2019. If you have any suggestions for how we can raise the money needed to complete this project, please let Louise, Jess or Hollie know.
