Christmas Raffle
We drew our annual Christmas Raffle this week- check out this list to see if you have won a prize. Prizes can be claimed from the gym.
Christmas Display 2017
The Christmas displays were a huge success this year. The gymnasts and coaches did the club proud and pulled off 9 entertaining shows in the space of 6 days. Thank you to everyone involved- gymnasts, coaches, parents and volunteers. A special mention goes to our Young Leaders who went the extra mile to help in all areas of the displays-choreographing, helping backstage, manning the door, selling cakes etc. To see video highlights of some of our routines, have a look at our Instagram page.
We hope you all enjoyed it! Please let us know any feedback as we look to make it even better next year.
Voluntary Floor and Vault Championships
The Recreational Competition Squad travelled to Stoke on 3rd December to take part in the West Midlands Voluntary Floor and Vault Championships. For many of our younger gymnasts, it was their first competition outside of our gym and they gave some impressive performances and showed off their routines with smiles on their faces. The new club leotards for our recreational squads looked great too!
Well Done to the Under 15 team for winning the silver medal, with Beth Taylor coming 2nd individually, and to the Ladies team to who also came 2nd with Megan Lown placing 2nd individually.
Regional Apparatus Teams
This is an unusual competition where each club has to pick 1 gymnast from each level to compete in just 1 event, so involves a lot of tactics. Our Level 4 10 and under team placed 3rd- well done Alice (Vault), Olivia (Bars), Rhiannah (Beam) and Rose (Floor). The Level 4 11+ team came 4th, with Jemima's bar score being the highest in the competition, backed up by good performances from Sian (Vault), Lottie (Beam) and Chloe (Floor). The Level 2 team of Hannah (Vault), Mimi (Bars), Emily (beam) and Ellie (floor) put together a clean competition to place 2nd, lead by Emily winning her 4th competition in a row on beam.
Regional Teams
We only had one team entered in this competition- a Level 4 11+ team consisting of Jemima Minchin, Chloe Field, Sian Culwick and Lottie Andrews. The team performed well and despite a few falls on beam, placed second. Jemima got a rosette for her 1st place finish on vault and beam, and Chloe got a rosette for her 1st place finish on floor.
2017 Level 5 Regional Championships
Wyre Forest had 4 girls enter the regional Level 5 competition in Cannock on 29th October- Alice Manterfield, Erin McDonald, Daisy Dowell and Ava Woodall. Alice lead the way placing 15th out of 75 gymnasts in the Out of Age category, with an impressive 5th place on floor and 7th place on beam. Well done girls! Results are available here.
Aviva Community Fund- Thank you!
We entered the Aviva Community Fund- a fund that could give us £1000 towards the purchase of new equipment for the gym. Thanks to your votes, we got the required 1000 votes in just 27 hours, which makes us finalists and are guaranteed the £1000 early next year!

2017 In House Competition
Well done to the 101 gymnasts that took part in our annual in house competition for recreational gymnasts on October 22nd. There were some brilliant performances and it was lovely to see all the smiles throughout the day. A big thank you goes out to the coaches, judges, parent volunteers and young leaders who gave up their day to help out, and of course to Louise for doing all the behind the scenes organisation to ensure that the day ran smoothly.
