Regional Grades 2019

The West Midlands Regional Grades competition took place in Cannock on 27th and 28th April. In the Grade 5 In Age competition, Lexi, Sienna and Matilda competed. Despite a hip injury and a fall on bars, Lexi showed some very neat gymnastics to pass her grade with distinction. Sienna also achieved a distinction, highlighted by a beautifully performed floor routine. Matilda had a silly mistake on bars which left her just short of the mark needed for a distinction, but she should be very proud of her first competition for the club.

In the out of age Grade 5 competition, Poppy was the sole competitor for Wyre Forest. This was Poppy's first Womens Artistic competition after moving up from our recreational competition squad late last year, and she has worked very hard to achieve the skills required for this level. She started her competition on floor with a beautiful floor routine, which placed 8th out of 40. Her range and conditioning was much improved, and she had a neat bar routine and stuck beam routine to gain a distinction with a score of 59.15.

On Sunday, Rose was our only entrant in the Grade 3 category. After a year of missing competitions due to untimely injuries, Rose competed with confidence to show consistent routines and some of the best vaults she has ever done. Each of her pieces scored above 11 to give her a total score of 57.74 and a commendation.

In the Grade 1 competition, Jemima, Lottie and Sadie competed. Highlights of their competition included very dynamic vaults and good bar routines. They all had routines that were better than others, but they all conquered fears and kept their coaches on their toes to pass their final grade.

Congratulations to all the girls, and thank you to Hollie, Emma and Simon for coaching at the competition and to Jackie for stepping in to judge for us.
